Education

Bachelor in Software Engineering (Hons)
Sunway University

My name is Deebesh and I am 22 years old. My journey into technology began when I built an Arduino-based automated scarecrow for my Design and Technology project. Watching how lines of code could bring hardware to life was eye-opening and sparked a deep passion for software engineering. What started as a simple project quickly grew into a genuine curiosity about how software powers the systems we use every day. Since then, I have pursued this passion by studying Software Engineering at Sunway University, where I am developing strong skills in programming, problem-solving, and project management. Along the way, I have explored different areas of IT through academic projects and hands-on learning, each experience strengthening my interest in applying technology to solve real-world problems. I am excited to continue growing as a developer, learning from industry professionals, and contributing to innovative solutions that create meaningful impact.

GoalPost Gazette

MongoDB NodeJS HTML CSS ExpressJS

I created a full-stack blog using Node.js, Express, and MongoDB, featuring admin authentication for secure content management. I built this project around my passion for football, giving me a platform to publish and manage football-related posts and match insights. The blog supports creating, editing, and deleting posts, with a clean and responsive design for smooth user experience. Deployed on Render, this project allowed me to gain hands-on experience with backend APIs, RESTful routing, database modeling, authentication flows, and cloud deployment. It strengthened my ability to combine technical development with personal interests, showing how I can take an idea from concept to a fully deployed application.

Project 1

StudiEats

Scala CSS SQL

A desktop GUI application built for my PRG2104 assignment with Scala and ScalaFX that provides affordable meal delivery services for university students. Features include subscription-based meal plans, real-time order tracking, secure payment processing, and comprehensive admin dashboard for user and menu management. Designed to address food security challenges and promote healthy eating habits among students.

Project 1

Algorithm Showcase

Python

A comprehensive suite of implementations demonstrating core computer science algorithms through interactive, visually engaging applications. Features a complete Binary Search Tree with ASCII visualization, a gamified Dijkstra's pathfinding adventure as a pirate treasure hunt, and an intelligent Sudoku generator/solver using backtracking with multiple difficulty levels.

Project 1

Pokémon Ga-Olé

Java

A Java-based Pokemon capture simulation game developed as a team project, implementing advanced object-oriented programming principles with proper inheritance, polymorphism, and modular design. Features a secure user authentication system with CSV-based data persistence, strategic Pokemon capture mechanics, and an innovative Golden Sand reward system that incentivizes continued gameplay even after failed attempts. The game demonstrates strong software engineering practices through comprehensive UML-driven development, robust exception handling, and collaborative team-based development following industry best practices.

SVPS

SVPS

Figma

This was an assignment for my SEG2202 module. It is a Smart Vehicle Performance System (SVPS) and the assignment required us to design a mobile application as well as an in-car-display interface for optimal user experience.

Portfolio

My Portfolio

HTML CSS Javascript

I created a responsive portfolio website using vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to showcase my development journey and technical skills. Building this became more enjoyable than expected as I experimented with interactive features like a custom dark/light theme toggle, smooth navigation transitions, and a paginated project gallery. The site includes sections for my background, technical skills organized by category, featured projects, and co-curricular activities presented through an animated slideshow. I focused on creating clean, semantic code and ensuring the design works seamlessly across all devices, from desktop to mobile. The portfolio demonstrates my front-end development capabilities while reflecting my attention to detail and user experience principles. This project allowed me to practice responsive design patterns, JavaScript DOM manipulation, and CSS animations without relying on external frameworks. It serves as both a professional showcase and a testament to my ability to take creative ideas and transform them into polished, functional web applications.

Co-curricular Activities

fire entinguishers
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Community Safety Volunteering

Collaborated with my team to donate fire extinguishers to residents of Desa Mentari, Malaysia. We also organized and conducted a fire drill and live demonstration, where community members learned how to properly use fire extinguishers and respond to emergencies. This initiative not only enhanced local safety awareness but also strengthened my skills in teamwork, organization, and community engagement.

food donation
SDG 2: Zero Hunger

Food Donation Drive Volunteer

Contributed as part of a high school team in Mauritius during the COVID-19 pandemic to organize a food donation drive supporting families in need. Assisted in collecting, packaging, and distributing essential food supplies, helping provide relief to vulnerable community members during a challenging time.

cleaning drive
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities & SDG 15: Life on Land

Cleaning drive as President of Ecology Club

Served as president of my high school’s Ecology Club, where I organized and led a large-scale cleaning drive across the school and surrounding areas. Coordinated volunteers, planned logistics, and promoted environmental awareness among students and the local community. This initiative supported sustainable practices, strengthened teamwork, and fostered a culture of responsibility toward the environment.

football
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being

Football Enthusiast / Player

Actively involved in football both recreationally and competitively, developing strong teamwork, discipline, and strategic thinking on the pitch. Regular participation in matches has strengthened my leadership, communication, and resilience, while also fostering a sense of community and sportsmanship.
